Senior speakers selected for graduation
Kori Martin and Sean Kelley were voted by the senior class as the senior speakers at the Class of 2016’s commencement ceremony, 8 p.m. on June 3 at the Apple Bowl.
After auditioning on May 4, senior Kenison Maher will sing the National Anthem. Seniors Lili Italiane and Ethan Knutson will perform “Dream,” by Priscilla Ahn. Seniors Emma Malmin and Silas Abbott will perform “7 Years,” by Lukas Graham.
Social studies teacher James Elwyn was voted by the class of 2016 to be the faculty speaker and the distinguished alumni speaker will be former school board member Jesús Hernández, class of 1988.
Last fall, more than 85 percent of the Class of 2016 voted to have the graduation ceremony back in the Apple Bowl from the Town Toyota Center, said Senior Class adviser Brandon Harle.
“The Town Toyota Center was a fantastic venue last year and they did everything they could to help us make the ceremony a memorable one,” Harle said. “There are challenges having it back in the Apple Bowl, but it will be a great ceremony as always.”
