Speech and Debate makes it to State
Wenatchee High School’s Speech and Debate Team took first place in the District’s State Qualifier tournament at Eisenhower High School in Yakima, Feb. 12-13.
The team will be sending 12 students to compete at the WIAA’s State Forensics Tournament in March.
The team was led by junior Vivian Noyd, who earned two first-place trophies in the tournament. Noyd took first place in Congressional Debate as well as Extemporaneous Speaking. Arturo Diaz took second in Extemporaneous Speaking. In Humorous Interpretation, Sebastian Passion got second place, and Noyd placed second in Original Oratory.
“It went good, a lot of our novices [First Years] actually placed, me being one of them, everyone that went to the tournament placed and so we’re all going to state,” said Cassandra Noyd, who placed fourth in Expository Speech.
The entire Speech and Debate team will be going to State in March.
