After each breezing through two matches uncontested, the Wenatchee High School boys and girls tennis teams placed second and first respectively at the Coke Classic tournament in Yakima on March 21.

WHS competed against three formidable opponents: Gonzaga Prep and Lewis and Clark from Spokane, and Hermiston, a school from Oregon.

The Panther girls team ended the tournament in first place with 17 points, with Gonzaga Prep trailing them with eight points. Stars of the tourney included freshman Yasmina Qazi, who placed third in number one singles, as well as freshman Alli Hallberg, sophomores Hannah Stonas and Anna Davenport, junior Maddi Hallberg, and seniors Analise Nelson, Carlie Heuple, Rachel Thrapp, and Kate Thies.

The girls record stands at 2-0 after defeating Moses Lake 7-0 on March 18 and Eastmont 4-3 on March 17.

Despite some struggles, boys tennis finished the tourney in second place, trailing Lewis and Clark by seven points. Although five of the six matchups between the teams were won by Lewis and Clark, doubles partners sophomore Hendrik Keyser and junior Dawson White owned their matches, taking down all of their opponents to claim first place in number three doubles.

The boys also beat Moses Lake 5-2 on March 18 and Eastmont 7-0 on March 17, upping their league record to 2-0.
