Wenatchee DECA places fifth at State Career Development competition

Twenty-one Wenatchee High School DECA members placed in the top seven in their event categories at the Washington DECA State Career Development Conference on March 3-5, qualifying to the International Career Development Conference in Nashville. The WHS DECA team placed fifth overall, their best finish to date.

Students competed against more than 3,600 other high school students from 160 high schools at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue.

WHS had 58 students attending the conference.

Senior Arturo Diaz placed first in Principles of Hospitality & Tourism. This was Diaz’s first year in the DECA program, beating out over 150 other students in his category.

The International Career Development Conference will be held April 23-26 in Nashville, TN.
