The Wenatchee boys swim and dive team took first out of six teams at the Columbia Basin Big 9 League Championship at Moses Lake on Jan. 26. This meet also served as a dual meet between the Panther boys and Moses Lake team, in which Wenatchee also took home a win with a score of 102-84.

Junior Charlie Cutter

Familiar faces topped of the pack at this swim competition with four first place finishes in the individual races: junior Braden Dilly in the 100 yard fly, freshman Connor Elwyn in the 500 yard freestyle, junior Charlie Cutter in the 100 yard backstroke, with freshman brother Christian Cutter bringing it in in the 100 yard breaststroke. Elwyn also had a new state qualifying time in the 200 yard freestyle.

“I am so proud of all the amazing freshman we have this year who consistently step up and win races,” Charlie Cutter said. “And it’s not just the freshman who have worked hard to deserve this win, it’s the whole team. We came into this meet with numerous goals, one being to stay undefeated. I feel that we have definitely put in the work to get this, and any swimmer on the team would agree. This school of fish has its course set for good performances at districts and state, so in the meantime we’ll just keep swimming and diving our way to success.”

This meet concludes the regular season of the boys swim and dive team. Their next meet will be districts hosted again in Moses Lake on Feb. 2-4.
