Junior Gavin Long and sophomore Tony Esquivel battle against Chiawana earlier in the season.

The Wenatchee Panthers will come into Friday night’s State football matchup well rested from their bye week, facing off against the Skyview Storm.

Preparation is a huge part in football. To prepare for the Storm, the Panthers have been watching an extensive amount of game film.

“We need to learn what they do well so we can know how to stop them from doing it. At this point it looks like they have some good receivers. It’ll be fun to see if we can force them to run and limit the pass,” said senior linebacker Willie Taulango.

Last week, the Storm escaped with a nail-biting win at Skyline, 34-31, and clinched a final spot in the 4A State football playoffs. The Panthers finished 9-1 compared to the 7-3 Storm.

“We’re not changing a thing — we’re just getting better at what we do,” assistant football coach Dave Jagla said.

“Once you get into the playoffs anything’s possible. You could be undefeated or you could have just barely snuck in. Every team has one common goal and that’s to win it all,” said senior lineman Cy Sirmon.
