On April 26 the Wenatchee High School Girls Golf team competed at the Three Lakes Golf Course in their first and only home game. The WHS team came away victorious with 407 points, beating out Davis with 411 points, West Valley with 437 points, Eastmont with 441 points and Sunnyside with 507 points. Team captain Taylor Takasugi placed second overall individually with 79 points, Ashley Turner scored 108, Sarah Woods scored 109, Jenna Osburn scored 111, Courtney Brown scored 111 and Emily Aumell scored 117.

“We won on our home turf which is a big win for all of us!” said Takasugi. “It was super nice weather and the greens were rolling really smooth. Everyone was really happy with how they performed and we had some personal bests out there. I was super happy with how I played and now we are just all preparing for districts and the state tournament!”

Sophomore Courtney Brown agreed, saying “All of our girls played well and we were all pretty excited to get a win at our home course, especially as we move forward to play our next matches of the season.” Brown scored a personal record at this game.

Senior Ashley Woods was less pleased with her personal score but was excited by the home win. “The match was pretty rough for me personally,” said Woods, “but obviously our team did what we needed to do to win this one!”

The WHS Girls Golf team competes again at the Moses Lake Country Club against Davis, Eastmont, Eisenhower, Sunnyside, West Valley and Moses Lake. This game, scheduled for April 30, marks two more games before the District 6 Championships and three more games until the WIAA State Championships.
