The Apple Leaf’s Editor in Chief Moses Lurbur, Online Editor Chris Danko, and WaWa photographer Alyssa Taylor all earned superiors in their categories. Cameron Wood and Edan Patterson of The Apple Leaf both earned excellent ratings.

“I was surprised and excited to receive the award,” Lurbur said. “I didn’t think I was going to get a superior because I was afraid I had made some mistakes. But the award made waking up at 4 in morning worth it.”

Rounding out the WHS award winners were Sylvia Hwang, Troy Price, Rylie Sweem, and Sydney Kaech, who each earned honorable mentions.

Student Media Adviser Dave Riggs walked away with The Fern Valentine Freedom of Expression Award. He won this award by advocating student free press rights.
