For the first time at Wenatchee High School, every fall sports team is off to the State playoffs.

This was determined today at 5 p.m. as the girls volleyball team went into their final match against Moses Lake, having beaten them twice and lost twice, to determine who would be moving on to the State playoffs.

“It was a really close game,” said senior Kiana Black. “We only won the last game 17-15. I think it’s awesome. We could’ve let them win at 3 games, but we took them to 5, and it was really exhausting.”.

Both the cross country girls and boys teams secured a spot in State after placing second in the District meet on Oct. 31 in Yakima. This is the first time both cross country teams have gone to State. After their meet earlier today in Pasco, boys cross country took tenth place overall in State, and girls cross country took 16th place.

The girls soccer team managed to defeat Eastmont 2-1 to make it to the State playoffs for the first time. During their seeding game today in Moses Lake, the girls lost 2-0, but will still advance to State.

After beating Richland by 112 points, the Wenatchee girls swimmers took first place at Districts to move on to the State level in Federal Way on Nov. 15 and 16.

The boys football team earned their spot in State after dominating against Eastmont 58-28 on Nov. 1, a game that also earned them first place in the Big Nine Conference.

“I’m not sure if this has ever even happened in the entire state,” said athletic director BJ Kuntz. “So it’s kind of a big deal.”
