The Golden Apple Band placed first in its division and fifth overall in the field show competition in Yakima last Saturday, Oct. 15.

The band also took home awards for best percussion, best brass and woodwinds, best marching, and best visual effect.

“It went really well. Mr. [Jim] Kovach said both our [preliminary and final] performances were our best yet,” senior and flute section leader Christina Heater said.

The band will travel to Everett for their next competition this weekend, Oct 22.
