The Wenatchee Police Department is investigating a graffiti incident that occurred last night on Wenatchee High School’s campus. The targets of the graffiti were the portables and the Golden Apple Band truck.

According to Safety and Security Officer Don Durden, the incident happened between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. The Police Department and WHS security have not identified the suspects as of early this afternoon. “We do have some leads being followed by the police,” Durden said.

Principal Bob Celebrezze received news about the graffiti from a call by the security company that monitors WHS at approximately 2:45 a.m.

Celebrezze could not report what exactly has been seen on the footage gathered through WHS security cameras, but he said it was most likely a petty act and not gang related.

This is the second instance of schools being tagged this week. Eastmont High School was tagged on Wednesday night. Because of this, the Eastmont School District is also working in cooperation with the Wenatchee School District and local law enforcement.

“There would be every reason to believe it’s directly related,” Celebrezze said, regarding the tagging at both schools.

The charges against whoever is found guilty will likely be malicious mischief, a gross misdemeanor, and possibly trespassing, Durden said.
