Josiah “Jojo” Walker is a wide receiver for the Wenatchee High School football team. Walker is in his third year of football, starting later than most as a Sophomore. On Sept. 19 Wenatchee had a game at Eisenhower. Walker had a stand-out performance that was recognized by many.

Looking at stats, Walker had two receptions for a total of 95 yards along with two touchdowns. Walker said that he and the team had more focus and energy going into the game.

“We’re aware of what we have and we know our abilities and what we can do to best use them,” said Walker.

The Wenatchee team has had more confidence throughout this season compared to past years. The start of the 2025 season has been statistically the most successful year for Wenatchee football in the last decade. Walker owes the team’s success to the work they’ve put in through the off-season.

“ In the off-season, we would get up super early, practice two-a-days, and then we have all these summer workouts,” said Walker.

The football team practiced two times a day throughout the whole summer, with a two-hour practice at 8 am and another two-hour practice at 3 pm.

Walker said that a few teammates who stood out and helped secure the win were Hector Ruiz, Griffin Butler and Chase Ballew. Walker said that their hard work and plays on defense were very beneficial towards the team’s success; Ruiz fighting on the line, and Butler and Ballew both getting interceptions. He said that they have worked hard and gotten many repetitions in practice.

Walker has high hopes for his senior season. He has many goals for his career in sports, with one of them being him earning first or second team all-conference receiver. He is also interested in continuing his sports in college, but has yet to make any concrete plans.
