Wenatchee High School junior Jessica Wierzbicki will be heading to the USA Swimming Speedo Winter Jr. National Championships on Dec. 9-12 in Austin, Texas.

Wierzbicki qualified for the 100-yard butterfly, 200 butterfly, and 100 backstroke.

Wierzbicki, who will be competing for the second consecutive year, has been with Velocity Swimming for the past four years. She is the first of its members to advance to Jr. Nationals.

“The team is still pretty new, and me going is setting the standard for other kids in Velocity to qualify in the future,” Wierzbicki said. “While it is cool on a personal level to have this awesome opportunity, it also pushes the team. In the end, it’s all about helping my team grow and get better.”
