Wenatchee extended its school-record streak to seven straight State tournament appearances. “It’s really a great opportunity,” Wenatchee’s Knowledge Bowl Coach Chris Cloke said.

Wenatchee’s highest finish at the State tournament so far is sixth place, which was four years ago.

The Knowledge Bowl regional tournament will consist of five oral rounds of 40 questions and one written round of 60 questions. Oral rounds are played like a game show with three teams, each team has four members playing at a time trying to be the first to buzz in the answer to the questions. The written round is a multiple choice exam where six students per team have 40 minutes to answer the 60 questions. The total number of answers correct form both the oral and written rounds are tallied up to determine the winner.

The students on Wenatchee’s Knowledge Bowl team that will be going to the Regional tournament are seniors Kyle Norland and Mattlyn Cordova, juniors Brenda Castaneda and Charles Marshall, sophomore Hendrik Keyser, and freshman Rebecca Devereaux.

“I’m excited for the kids,” Cloke said. “It’s going to be a great experience.”
