An 18-year-old Wenatchee High School and Wenatchee Valley Technical Skills Center student was arrested this morning for allegedly making threatening comments to kill a school administrator in the Cashmere School District. The student also allegedly threatened a person associated with the Wenatchee Super Oval Race Track in East Wenatchee, according to a press release issued this morning by the Wenatchee Police Department.

WHS Principal Bob Celebrezze called a staff meeting this morning, and told staff the comments were made about him. In an email to staff later, he said the comments were actually made about an administrator from another school district.

“Both victims were contacted and confirmed they had previous run-ins with the student and believed his threats to harm them were credible,” the WPD press release said.

Wenatchee police arrested the student without incident at 8:20 this morning at his Wenatchee home. He was previously enrolled in the Cashmere School District, the police department’s press release said.

Wenatchee School District’s Director of Risk Management and Safety Adam Bergstrom said the district was notified by Wenatchee police of the threat. He said no other students are involved, and reiterated there was no imminent threat to WHS students or staff.

No weapons were in the suspect’s immediate possession, but search warrants are being prepared to determine if the suspect had access to any weapons, the press release said.

“At no time were any staff or students in any imminent danger,” Celebrezze said in his email to staff.
