At Wenatchee High School, a particular teacher has done much more than just being in the classroom. Rachel Endelman, one of the science teachers at WHS has had the opportunity to travel to different and unique places all around the world. She has been to the following African countries: Morocco, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana and South Africa. Not only has she experienced Africa, but also several European countries: England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Iceland. That’s not all, she has also traveled to Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Panama, Colombia, United Arab Emirates, Oman and last but not least, Doha.
While there are many different countries stated, Endelman wasn’t always considered a traveler growing up.
“As a kid, I just traveled in the U.S., we did a lot of camping with my family” Endelman said, It was, probably in my mid 20s, the first sort of international trip I took was to Costa Rica, probably about age 25, and really enjoyed it, and just opened traveling a lot ever since.”
Endelman has found traveling enjoyable, due to meeting new places, and you won’t end up knowing what something is like if you haven’t gone there, or experienced a certain location.
Between all of these different locations Endelman had the chance to encounter, there are still two she has found to be her favorite.
“My two favorite places would be Panama in Central America and Botswana in southern Africa,” Endleman said. “I think both of those I love so much because they’re so wild and there’s so much nature and so many amazing animals to see.”
In addition to her time in southern Africa, part of the nature and animals she got to see was her experience in participating in a self safari, where she rented her own truck and camped in the wilderness of Africa.
On top of that, Endelman still has more room for travelling to some different spots that she hasn’t gotten to see yet.
“I want to visit Southeast Asia, I have not been to that region at all, I’d love to go to Vietnam, Thailand, and see some of those regions and Australia” Endelman said.
