The Hunger Games Trilogy: Catching Fire

Hundreds of Katniss and Peeta loving fans sprawled across the theater on the evening of Nov. 21 while munching on popcorn and highly anticipating the release of the new movie and second of the series, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Now, if this movie wasn’t up to par, I would be criticizing these fans to no end. Although, it was the type of crowd that applauded post movie. However, these fans were restless, with good reason.

Now, we know the common thought when this movie trilogy comes to mind: How is it possible to create another movie with another Hunger Games? For those of you who don’t know, it’s a “game” which consists of 24 individuals who fight to the death, designed to only have one survivor. Despite previous assumptions, this movie turned out to be one of the best of 2013.

Here’s the lowdown: In a sudden turn of events, the Peetniss romance continues, more people die (shocker), Haymitch continues to make sure he is constantly hydrated, and Katniss sheds more tears. The acting was impeccable and all characters appeared as if they were born to play their character. For the second movie in a series, this film did not disappoint.

If you’re looking to watch a high quality film, Catching Fire is your go-to. With the perfect combination of intense battle scenes and also a few sappy romantic scenes to please all of the teenage girls watching, the film satisfied a wide audience.

Perhaps one of the most impressive aspects of the film was the cast members’ wardrobes. Thanks to Katniss and Peeta’s eloquent designer during the games, Cinna, the favorite couple sports elegant ball gowns and suits, trailing with spitting hot fire, drawing “ooohs” and “aaahs” from impressed spectators in the theater.

Many viewers left the theater sighing a little with disappointment due to the abrupt ending that left fans hanging. With so many unanswered questions from the movie, fans already eagerly await the third and final movie to this dramatic series.
