The Wenatchee High School cheer team had a successful night on March 14 raising roughly $1,700 for the team at the WHS All-American-themed Tolo dance.

The money will be going towards the 2015-16 cheer team fund for traveling to away games, new uniforms, and other things. The funds will also go toward their upcoming summer cheer camp.

“It’s about $300 a person for [the athletes] to go to camp. We will use some of the money to offset the cost of that,” Coach Danielle Schafer-Cloke said.

Between the cost of the DJ and some potential extra janitorial costs of the dance, the total amount earned for the cheer team will not be finalized for another couple of weeks

“[The fundraiser] takes care of a bunch of [the cost]. Not all of it, but for sure most of it,” Schafer-Cloke said.

The cheerleaders spent a lot of time preparing for the dance. From pitching in on homemade signs and props for the photobooth to hanging the streamers around the commons.

“We set up from after school on Friday to midnight,” senior Vanessa Monaco said. “…we got there on Saturday at around 9 am and finished around noon.”
