Bump, set, SPIKE! Wenatchee High School’s Homecoming week hosted the traditional Buff Puff volleyball tournament last night. In a score of 15-10, “Troop 2” took the title, beating “Malibooty” in the Buff Puff championship game, after losing to them right before in the semifinals. “Malibooty” came in second and “Empire Strikes Back” took third.

Thirteen teams with lots of energy and determination written all over their faces; these boys were ready to bring it. This event kept people on their toes with excitement and hopefulness for each team.

All I got to say is we were the best and scouts honor was the key to our victory.

From traveling to the small gym to the gymnasium after each play, the teams kept up with good attitudes. Regardless of the sweat dripping down their faces, and falling on their behinds in order to hit the ball, each team had the spirit and persistence during every game.

The reactions from the winning team “Troop 2” were all screams of joy and hugging.  “I feel like we stepped up and got great kills from [senior] Trey Adams,” senior coach Amira Chandler said.

“We crushed it!” Adams said. “We had God’s power.”

“All I got to say is we were the best and scouts honor was the key to our victory,” senior Izzy Garcia said. ”Ball is life!”

“I’m so excited, we killed it!” senior Jacob Prater said.

“We tore it up like a tiger, Troop 2! Troop 2! Ball is life,” Prater chanted.

“Scouts covenant brought us to victory,” junior Grady Miller said. “I had a blast. It’s about family and the teammates, I give this win to all of them.”
