The Wenatchee High School AppleEttes placed first in one event, swept the podium for individual awards, and qualified for District competition at the Quincy Invitational at Quincy High School on Jan. 21, their first competition of the season.

The team scored a 212 in Military and a 228.5 in Pom, out of 300 for both. The score to qualify for Districts was a 195, and they surpassed that in both events. They took first place in the 4A Pom division, and second place in the overall Military division.

The girls perform routines as a team, but they also perform individually in what is called a “drill down.” Sophomore Stephanie Soto took first, freshman Chloe Williams took second, and sophomore Maria Metzger took third.

The team looks forward to improving their performance at the Kamiakin Invitational on Feb. 4.
