Prices range from $1.75 for individual seedlings, to $27.00 for large flower baskets according to Horticulture teacher Dan Ellwood.

This spring’s unusually high temperatures proved to be a challenge. Plants grew faster than anticipated, and required much more water than in years previous. Despite these difficulties, Ellwood has high hopes for this year’s FFA plant sale.

“We’ll have nice weather for the sale, and that really helps,” Ellwood said. “The kids have also done a really good job advertising.”

As last year’s sale raised $26,000, Ellwood’s goal for this year is $27,000. All profits are given back to the students who contributed to the growing of the plants. Some students receive up to $400 from the plant sale. Ellwood estimates that the FFA plant sale has been going for 40-50 years.
