Little Shop of Horrors is on its way to Wenatchee High School’s theater department.

Little Shop of Horrors is a 1960 American horror comedy film directed by Roger Corman. It originally wasn’t a musical but came to life on May 6, 1982, when Howard Ashman and Alan Menken transformed it into what it is today.

“The musical won the 1982-1983 New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical,” Utah Shakespeare Festival 2025.

Little Shop of Horrors is about Seymour Krelborn, a floral assistant who discovers a mysterious and carnivorous plant named Audrey II that he takes care of in a shop in a place called Skid Row. As the plant grows, it develops a taste for blood and needs more to survive, pushing Seymour to make more and more extreme choices to keep it alive and to protect his secret, while attracting fame and fortune.

Putting on the show are Paul and Kelly Atwood. It’s a show that the two have been wanting to do for a while now and they’re finally getting the chance.

“This has been one of Kelly and I’s favorite shows from the beginning. Since it first came out. I remember every time that it came on our list of all things we can do, someone else did it that’s nearby.” Atwood says.

Not only are the Atwood’s excited to get this show started, but the cast is too. In an interview with Kai Korfiatis, a freshman at Wenatchee High School, she talks about how she felt during the audition process.

“It was nerve wracking and I was kinda scared, but I was really excited.” Korfiatis said.

Wenatchee High School presents to you, “I think every one of our shows is a can’t-miss show. So, you’re going to be entertained. You’re going to laugh. You might even shed a tear. It’s going to be fun,” Paul said.

Kade Devereaux has been cast as Seymour, Iris Jaffe as Audrey, Cruz Martinez as Audrey II, Elijah Knemeyer as Mushnik and Dominic Cochran as Orin.
