After shutting out two of their five opponents, Coach LeAnne Branam and her Wenatchee volleyball girls have found themselves with an overall record of 3-2 and a league record of 3-1. This places them second in league, just behind the Eisenhower Cadets.

With such a close margin between first and second place, Wenatchee has a great chance of placing first and hosting the District tournament.

“I am 100 percent confident in my girls that we will make the top four that go to the tournament. It is now just a matter of placing first and getting the advantage of hosting it,” said Branam

Wenatchee’s only loss so far is to the Cadets, but considering their last meeting ended with a 3-2 loss, the next match against Eisenhower could go either way. Senior captain Ali Marboe said, “We’ve been working on the problems that came up during the Eisenhower game, like not pointing fingers anymore, so we should beat them.”

Seniors Kiana Black and Rachel Lieber have proven to be the real stand outs on the team and in the league. Black, in just five games, has recorded 20 aces, 70 kills, and 98 digs. Leiber, who is not far behind, has recorded 9 aces, 58 kills, and 80 digs.

Wenatchee will play the Wildcats at Eastmont on Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. The last time these teams met, Wenatchee didn’t lose a single match.
