FBLA spreads Halloween cheer

Wenatchee High School’s Future Business Leaders of America recently wrapped up its annual community service project just in time for Halloween with a pumpkin carving event at the Bruce Hotel.

FBLA provided the pumpkins and helped kids at the Bruce Hotel carve them on Oct. 30, said junior community service coordinator Devyn Blakney.

“If we didn’t [help carve pumpkins], a lot of these kids wouldn’t be able to experience that in their situation,” said Blakney. “It’s a fun experience to hang out with the kids, and it’s always good to give back to the community.”

Additionally, today, Nov. 6, FBLA is attending a conference at Wenatchee Valley Community College to learn about what the group stands for and what it does as an organization.

Right after returning from their conference, FBLA members will put on their annual dinner for the cast of Shrek: The Musical, said junior Eduardo Ramos, FBLA president.

Next up for the FBLA group is a winter competition, where members will compete in their chosen events against other schools in North Central Washington.

“It teaches us the importance of how to put on a business venture and it also helps you learn the quality of your work…because you get graded by judges who are experienced in these type of events,” said Ramos.
