As we all know by now, Kanye West, American songwriter and rapper, has been caught in a few scandals within the past couple of years that have not only affected who he is as a person, but how friends and family see him as well.
In 2016, West was allegedly diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, which is known as a chronic mental health condition creating mood swings and other mental highs and lows. People believe Kanye ultimately started to fall into a spiral due to his mother, Donda West, passing away in 2007. Since being possibly diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, West went on a rampage of speaking on extremely controversial topics, such as antisemetic remarks, George Floyd’s death, slavery and other public threats. After these comments on social media, West lost many brand deals and the people following the controversies online.
In recent times, West has formed a new way to be perceived by people in the form of an apology letter published as an ad in the Wall Street Journal Jan. 26 2026. In this apology he mentions being in a car accident twenty five years ago causing damage to his frontal lobe. This was not physically treated until 2023, causing major mental health damage in the form of bipolar disorder. He acknowledges the fact that he was out of touch with reality, becoming full of regret, and wasn’t his true self. Additionally, he has also taken accountability for his anti-semetic remarks, saying he is committed to change, and he is not a Nazi, but won’t excuse his behavior. He also apologizes to the black community for his actions, concluding that he isn’t looking for sympathy, but for patience and understanding.
People on social media have also found ways to bring up West’s daughter, North West, saying he is a bad influence on her. North West has mainly been pointed out on social media platforms, such as TikTok, due to her form of acting too old for her age, being 12 years old.
In TikTok videos or other social media platforms, she is seen wearing wigs, teeth grills, finger piercings and clothing people don’t think should belong to a 12 year old girl. She has also been seen reunited with her father and attending his concerts. Earlier in the month of Feb. 2026, during one of West’s concerts in Mexico, he brought out his daughter on the stage to sing.
The West family has taken some interesting turns within the early months of 2026.
