Singer, performer and writer Megan Moroney came out with her brand new album called Cloud 9. Her album was released on Feb. 20 and America went wild. Many social media platforms were promoting it along with Moroney herself posting it for millions to see.
Moroney was born in Savannah, Georgia. She attended the University of Georgia and began her career shortly after. She started singing in the Georgia Theatre and soon gained her fame. In 2022 is when everyone started to know her name. Her hit single Tennessee Orange gained dozens of listeners and it all went up from there. A year later she released her first ever album called Lucky, just wrapped up her tour for the Am I Okay album and Cloud 9 being her third.
Moroney has been posting on her Instagram for multiple months about the change from a deep royal blue to pink, shocking her fans with the change. Her new album features Ed Sheeran and Kacy Musgraves. Her album has 14 songs on it including Cloud 9, 6 Months Later, Stupid, Beautiful Things, Convincing, Liar & Tigers & Bears, I Only Miss You feat. Sheeran, Wedding Dress, Change of Heart, Bells & Whistles feat. Musgraves, Table for Two, Wish I Didn’t and Who hurt you.
My personal favorite is Beautiful Things. Moroney wrote the song for her niece. The song talks about growing up and dealing with the negative effects when entering high school and how to overcome hard challenges along with being close to God while maintaining a strong sense of empowerment. High school isn’t the easiest thing to navigate and it was special and cute how she wrote it for her niece from her own perspective and personal experiences growing up and looking out for her. My favorite part of it is one of her lyrics says, “The world is hard on beautiful things.”
This lyric reminds me that we are going through hard things and yet ugly or beautiful it taught us something and we need to figure out how to grow through it to find the beautiful perspective on the event. I also got the pleasure of seeing it live in Seattle when she performed there in late September of 2025 in her Am I Okay Tour. It was emotional and also a great concert she performed.
Another one of my favorites is 6 Months Later. The beat of the song with the catchy lyrics make it easy and fun to listen to. I also got to see that one live in Seattle as well. She released those two songs beforehand as a preview and fans loved it so she went ahead and made it an album.
I feel like Moroney albums are all pretty similar and equal when it comes to comparing them. All of her songs are meaningful, catchy, easy to listen to, heartfelt or sassy. Her second album or also known as her Ewo Cowgirl stage was my personal favorite. All her songs were my favorite and all were very good. I enjoyed listening to her new album and am excited for more to come.
