Tolo theme brings the beauties and geeks

On April 19, Wenatchee High School’s cheer squad raised $1,871 at this years Tolo which took place in the WHS commons. The theme this year was “Beauty and the Geek”.

According to Tami Walters in the ASB Office, there were 170 tickets purchased before the dance and 142 bought at the door, reaching a total of 312 tickets sold.

Dean of Students and supervisor of the evening Mike Franza was happy overall with the success of the event.

“I was really pleased on the attendance and the theme,” Franza said. “It was cute seeing everyone dressing to the theme and all of the guys coming in wearing their suspenders.”

However, despite the increase in ticket sales, a miscommunication regarding music may have had an negative impact on participation on the dance floor. According to Cheer Captain Tara Heuple, the playlist the cheerleaders made was never played. “I don’t think a lot of people danced because of the music,” Heuple said, “but I hope people had fun anyways.”

“There were definitely more people that showed up to the dance but maybe less on the dance floor than last year,” Franza said, “But all of the people on the dance floor were certainly having a fun time so that was good to see.”

The money raised this year will go towards the cheer squad’s season next year going to cheer clinics and competitions.
