Hello, my name is Kenzie and I don’t really care for a lot of country music so, I asked a friend of mine to make me a little playlist of songs for me to listen to and review and here’s how it went-

First song, Springsteen by Eric Church: Wasn’t sure how to feel about this song so I don’t have a lot to say. It was pretty repetitive and talked a lot about Saturday nights, being 17 years old, and saying Springsteen about 10 times along with woah-oh-oh-oh (according to the written lyrics of spotify). I give it a 4/10.

Second song, Family Tradition by Hank Williams, Jr.: I actually liked this song quite a bit. The use of a fiddle and steel guitar was nice because I like those instruments and the way they were played made the song exciting. This song was released in 1979. I realized a little while ago that I like older country music more than I do modern country. And when I say older I’m talking about 1950’s Johnny Cash old. I give this song a 7/10.

Third Song, Finer Things by Post Malone (Feat. Hank Williams Jr.): I will just start off by giving this song a 2/10 and apologize on my behalf if you like this song. I liked Post Malone before he went country because I’ve always loved his voice. I don’t like how this song just talks about a whole lot of random things. Yes, I do understand what they’re talking about and what it means, and I don’t like it. It also has a very common/simple (in my opinion) drum track and that makes it not very appealing to my ears.

Fourth song, Somewhere Over Laredo by Lainey Wilson: She has a pretty voice and this gives off I’m driving off to college vibes. I liked the piano in this song, as well as the tie into Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole. I think the only part I don’t like about this song is that it’s continuing to prove how 60% of country music is about love and relationships. I give this song a 6/10.
